Kai Ying is a lawyer at Overholt Law and practices in all of the firm's practice areas including labour relations, employment, human rights, occupational health and safety, and privacy law.

Kai Ying values a thoughtful, well-reasoned, and client-focussed approach to the practice of law. Since joining Overholt Law in May 2018, Kai Ying has advised a diverse range of clients on matters including employment contracts, severance packages and restrictive covenants, workplace policies, and human rights claims. Kai Ying has experience with workplace litigation and has been involved in proceedings before mediators and arbitrators, the Human Rights Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board, and the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Prior to joining the firm, Kai Ying attended the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia for her law degree. While at law school, Kai Ying volunteered with the Law Students' Legal Advice Program and with the Migrant Workers' Centre (formerly the West Coast Domestic Workers' Association), and summered and worked in-house at UBC Human Resources, where she gained considerable experience with labour and employment issues core to our work at Overholt Law. She was also extensively involved with the UBC Law Review throughout law school, serving on the Board of Directors as the Editor-in-Chief (Editorial) in her final year.

When she is not at the office, Kai Ying enjoys reading fiction and Canadian poetry, travelling, and hunting for antique and vintage treasures.
