Mohit Chhibber joins Overholt Law

Overholt Law is pleased to announce that Mohit Chhibber has joined the firm as an associate lawyer. Mohit practices in all the firm's core practice areas, as well as brings experience with a broad cross-section of immigration and refugee law to Overholt Law. Mohit is fluent in English, Hindi and Punjabi and is also a licensed lawyer in India. He received his LL.M. from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. Michele Li joins Overholt Law

Overholt Law is pleased to announce that Michele Li has joined the firm as a legal administrative assistant. Michele pursued a career as a legal administrative assistant after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree at UBC. Brent Mullin joins Overholt Law

Overholt Law is pleased to announce that Brent Mullin has joined the firm. Brent has 35 years of experience as a lawyer and adjudicator in the province of British Columbia. Brent served for 16 years as Chair of the Labour Relations Board of BC, the province's leading administrative tribunal, and a previous 6 years as a Vice-Chair at the Board.

Brent also has 14 years of experience in the private practice of law as a partner and associate at a national law firm in Vancouver. In private practice Brent has represented clients in mining, forestry, construction and municipal government in grievance arbitrations and applications before administrative tribunals and all levels of court in BC.

Gurpreet Gill rejoins Overholt Law

Overholt Law is pleased to announce that Gurpreet Gill has rejoined the firm after completing her law degree in London. Gurpreet moved to London, United Kingdom in September 2016 to attend The City Law School at City, University of London to obtain her law degree.

Now back in Vancouver, she is writing the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) examinations to obtain her NCA Certificate of Qualification before admittance to the Law Society of British Columbia. Upon admittance to the Law Society of British Columbia it is anticipated she will commence her Articles with Overholt Law.

Overholt Law Welcomes Cameron Wardell And Laura Thomas

Cameron Wardell

Cameron joins the firm as an associate lawyer.

Cameron received his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in 2009. Prior to his move to Overholt Law, Cameron spent almost four years practicing in the area of labour, employment and human rights at a large firm in Vancouver. Cameron also worked as a judicial law clerk at the British Columbia Supreme Court in 2009-2010.

Cameron's practice focuses on the litigation of labour and employment disputes, and he has a great deal of experience in many different areas, including wrongful dismissals, termination grievances, collective bargaining and restrictive covenant disputes. Cameron has extensive experience advocating on behalf of employers and employees in a variety of venues, including arbitration, adjudication under the Canada Labour Code, the Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal, the Labour Relations Board of British Columbia, the courts of British Columbia and Ontario, and the Federal Court of Canada. Cameron has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, and has argued before our Court of Appeal.

Cameron has worked for employers in many industries, including aviation, manufacturing, mining, education (private, public and post-secondary), transportation, health care, child care, grocery, warehousing and distribution, insurance, executive recruitment, casino gaming, as well as First Nations and not-for-profit organizations. Cameron has worked on behalf of employers located in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, as well as employers with businesses extending across several provinces.

Cameron is the current Treasurer of the British Columbia Employment Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia.

Laura Thomas

Laura is a paralegal practicum student from Capilano University and assists the lawyers in the firm's core areas of employment law, labour relations and human rights.

Prior to studying for her paralegal designation, Laura obtained her Bachelor of Arts in political science and Diploma in social justice studies from the University of Victoria.

Laura is a member of the BC Paralegal Association.

Kathleen Beaumont Hill Award

Carman is the recipient of the 2013 Kathleen Beaumont Hill Award from the Vancouver Branch of the Queen's University Alumni Association.

The Award was created in 2009 and celebrates the dedication and generosity of Kathleen (Beaumont) Hill, Arts'50, to her alma mater and community for more than 50 years. This Award is presented annually to the individual who best exemplifies her outstanding service, passionate advocacy, dedicated support and dedication to Queen's, Vancouver and the legal community.

Overholt Law First Anniversary

Overholt Law celebrated a successful first year on June 18, 2013. The firm opened its doors on June 18, 2012 when Carman J. Overholt, Q.C. established a sole practice. Less than a year later, Carman was joined by two associate lawyers, Preston Parsons and Jennifer Kwok.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff and clients for their support and trust in our firm. We look forward to the next years serving our community.
